mixed media

those are beach pictures I took a couple of weeks underneath...sand dollars
I actually found on the internet. I strive to use most of my own photography
in my collages...not always easy!!

and that's what I came up with !! Not quite finished with this painting, but almost done

Breathe...

Hearts are cut out of cotton paper (my favorite collage paper!) Sometimes I notice that some
brush strokes in my paintings seem be influenced by indigenous art. I love the earthy feel
those cultures bring into their art.  I think it's my way to "ground" my art.

breathe... this piece was inspired by yoga practice.  I usually practice every night before I go to bed.
I would love to make more like this one and transform my place into a real yoga cocoon.

I tried it out above my sofa to see how it would look inside
a home :) But I don't think I'm going to leave it there.

FLOWER POWER

Very paper intense piece. It took me a long time to make. I am not entirely satisfied with
every aspect of it, but i like some parts here and there. I always love adding depth to my
art through the use of texture. Growing up, color was what I focused the most on. One
day I'll have to put some of my teen paintings on my blog too! But since studying design,
texture is by far what thrills me the most.  Subtle 3D texture instills life.

this drop is not a tear drop!! it's actually a flame. It's a flame of pure
consciousness hovering over the sacred waters of Siesta Key beach.  Many have
observed the healing powers of these waters.  So have I.

excursion to Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island- beachier than ever!
What I love about Florida are the beautiful islands....fun to explore and bike ride:) While Siesta Key has amazing wide white sand beaches, the beach front is polluted with ugly looking buildings from the 1970s. It has not preserved any of its architectural charm over the years.

Anna Maria Island on the other hand has made a visible constant effort to keep the charm and the little beach houses...the coast line is beautiful and check out this restaurant right on the beach!!

Tiare flowers in my art

The simplified version of the Tiare flowers are scattered throughout my art- I just love them! They mainly consists of simple petals cut out of textured white paper. The only paper that looks good is the textured kind that has a cotton feel to it (others look too flat). Sometimes I add watercolor. I've been feeling like adding other flowers, but so far have only been drawn to daisies...let's see what comes next!

my tiare flower obsession

Yes, the beach is what I love... but going to my favorite shops like Whole Foods and Michael's, I often find myself taking pictures of artwork on packaging etc. All the prettiness, small or big is noticed: from the graphics on the grocery store flyer to the gift card found in my favorite arts & crafts store. Lately what really has been attracting my attention are flowers that resemble tiare or monoi flowers. The ones in the 3rd picture below were taking at Selby Gardens- a must see attraction in Sarasota.

I shot a paddleboarder!

I was on the beach and thought this paddleboader gliding on the water during the sunset was beautiful, so I turned it into a piece of art !
